pdfMachine merge is a tool which will mass email personalized PDF attachments. The contents of rows from a CSV or Excel data source is used to fill out the personal content in the email and PDF. Using pdfMachine merge you can mass send a number of personalized PDFs as attachments to a single email. The attachments can be :
To send documents with the same layout but with different personal information (obtained from consecutive rows of the data source) use the "Each row creates an attachment" method. eg a student completes an award and receives a graded certificate for each course, consecutive rows of the data source have the information for a certificate. Or an email with multiple invoices, consecutive rows of the data source have the information for an invoice.See how.
Documents with different layouts that use the same row of the data source to populate the merge fields are attached as "Dynamically Generated Attachments" in the merge profile. For example a letter and a certificate that will go in the same email.
Click the "Add PDF Attachment" link to add an additional attachment that will be generated from the merge data.
Using pdfMachine merge you can :
When existing files are attached you can send the same file in all emails by entering the path name of the file. Or you can send a different PDF in each email by using a merge field from the data source to point to a specific (existing) file to attach.
You can attach files of any format suitable to attach to an email: eg PDF, Word, Excel, images.
1. Click the 'Attach' link.
2. Select a file that already exists from your file system.
3. You can use merge fields to point to different files if the file needs to be different for each email.
The file must be in the specified location when you run the merge. Multiple files can be attached by using a , or ; separated list. File names with a comma or semi-colon are not valid.
Existing PDFs that you want to either encrypt / password protect or apply a stamp / watermark can be attached to the email by using the PDF as the template.
1. Select Add PDF Attachment to add an additional template.
2. You can select an existing PDF and send the same PDF in all emails. Or you can use merge fields to point to different files and send a different file in each email.
The file must be in the specified location when you run the merge.
